Going Strong For More Than Three Decades: Sydney Festival

In January of each year, the good people of Sydney host a colossal and amazing event. Sydney Festival marks beginnings of two sorts. This is a spectacular start to the New Year for one thing. For another, Sydney uses this to launch the summer season, where tourists and locals all enjoy renewed warmth and long days. Thin new summer, new year, new show. You may think you have seen it all before, but think again.

For over thirty years tourists and locals have mingled to hear the best in music. They have watch fantastic shows. Celebrities have been a part of the action too, merging with the crowds to experience one of the biggest events in Australia. Not only Sydney, but families all over the continent make this an annual event.

Many events cost nothing except a bit of time and an energetic spirit. A quarter of a million people will all be doing the same, though not all in the same place at the same time. Along with these go programs which require tickets, of which about a million will be sold for three weeks of excitement.

More than a thousand artists will bring Sydney vibrantly alive from about three hundred venues. Along with this there are eighty events. Pricing is inclusive to attract as many people as possible, no matter what their circumstances. The party is for everyone after all.

Not only are all people invited, but also all cultures. Culturally, Sydney is a richly diverse city. Their Festival reflects this. New relationships open up between countries and individuals newly fascinated by their unique forms of performance and the history behind them. Imagine the importance of these relationships on a global scale.

Music, dance and other visual performance comes to you from all over the world. Sample some Brazilian entertainment. Hear the sounds of New Orleans. Gypsy, Mali, Indigenous and other ethnic groups present a mix of traditional and contemporary sights and sounds. Take in something new and you may be hooked.

You can expect to see these performances popping-up all over Sydney. Along with the shows, learn about the people and companies that make this event happen annually. They support financially in a big way, revealing just how much financial help something so big needs to come to life. Festival administrators work hard to attract dollars, offering something in return: lots of exposure. Imagine all of those venues and shows and how many opportunities there are to advertise your name and business, on screens and brochures everywhere. Who knows how many people, in their gratitude, these firms might attract to purchase their goods and use their services.

After a high-octane weekend or full week of festival shows, there is a lot more to do in Sydney. In fact, you could escape the major crowds for some less intense ones in suburbs with their own attractions. Stop by the historic Rocks district. Take a trip to Sydney Harbour Bridge, the Opera House, or some beaches. Catch a ferry to Cockatoo Island for a real escape.
